The best thing about Mandrake 9.2 is that it installs very easily,but there it ends. Did not find printer,modem,cpu speed,usb hub and only 1 bank of memory,graphic card also sound card.Days later only the sound and graphics working.
It loads from boot up in 1 min 53 seconds even with unused services disabled,even net questions got no anwsers.
I am Not useing it any more.

Installing Mandrake Linux 9.2 is a piece of cake; you just plug in the CD and follow the wizard! Using Mandrake Linux 9.2 is really just like using Windows, the only real difference is that unlike Windows, you get a whole load of really useful applications included on the distribution CDs. It never seems to crash and you do not get those patronising popups and naff wizards every time you want do a simple task! - When I first installed Linux, I kept XP on a second hard drive `just in case, but I soon found I never needed to use it and it was not long before I removed it altogether to give me more space for all that free software I was downloading for Linux. I can honestly say that I never looked back. I would recommend Mandrake Linux 9.2 over Windows for anyone who has enough computer knowledge to enter a few simple commands and is willing to learn how to harness the real power of their PC. Windows XP is very good for those who know nothing about computers and wish to remain that way but Mandrake Linux 9.2 is the one for those who already know a little and would like to learn a lot more.

Mandrake has come on leaps and bounds since the first incarnations of red hat copies, This release is one of the best from the MandrakeSoft team since 9.0, 9.1 In my opnion wasnt great and had loads of bugs, 9.2 Irons out most of those bugs and also has a few more, as we speak I am using Mandrake 9.2 to write this review using Konquerer.
All the usual programs are here, Mozilla, Ximiam Evolution, the list is nearly endless with up to 3000 Apps on the 7 CDs.
Something which came as a supprise for me is support to play Divx movies straight out of the box!
Hardware recognition is great as has always been with Mandrakes products, My Winmodem was even detected!
Unfortunatly it doesnt seem to like my Onboard sound card and regulary dumps the drivers, no doubt mandrake will release a fix for this soon.
The Great thing about this distro is support for the latest hardware, It has drivers for the latest Video Card from ATi and nVidia right out of the box too!
Basically this new release carries on what Mandrake have always done and that is to make an easy to use distro for new users and experienced ones alike!
